History

Our school was built in 1875 in traditional Victorian style and is well maintained. Originally designated as a Church School, it was never endowed and is now a County Primary School funded by Cumbria LEA.

As of September 2014 there were 23 children on roll and two full time teachers and two part time teaching assistants.

The old Victorian schoolroom has now been divided to provide separate accommodation for the two Key Stages. Ducklings Nursery opened in September 2014 utilising a new conservatory style classroom with magnificent views over Skiddaw. Each classroom has a well equipped art, craft and technology area and an I.C.T. bay. There is an additional small room leading off which is used as a quiet work room. The school is well resourced to meet the requirements of the National Curriculum in core and foundation subjects.

The school building is set within a spacious playground creatively marked for outdoor sporting and curriculum activities. There is a fixed external play system to encourage challenge and adventure. The outdoor environment provides stimulus for imaginative and role play. An outdoor classroom  benefits the children’s outdoor curriculum.
