School

Welcome to our school website. We hope you all enjoy this virtual tour of our school. By viewing these pages, you will be able find out all about our work in school, learn the views of our pupils and find out important information about how our school is organised. By looking at photographs of pupils engaged in their activities, you will also be able to gain an insight into our excellent learning environment.

Our children are very enthusiastic learners and their enjoyment is reflected in the quality of their work. Our expectations for pupil attainment are high but we do try to make learning fun and accessible to all. We like to be “out and about” and aim to maximise our magnificent external surroundings for fieldwork. We are committed to enhancing our curriculum with educational visits and also engage in lots of sporting activities. We hope you will notice all this as you browse.

All our children are proud to belong to our school family and love coming to this school, where they know they will be well supported by kind and dedicated professionals. They are also extremely good at supporting each other and a very caring, family ethos exists here, which is very beneficial to our children’s emotional development.

We all think Bassenthwaite School is a great place to learn (and so do OFSTED 2011). In 2015, our 100% achievement in KS1 in Literacy and Numeracy at Levels 2+ and our KS2 4+ respectively is testament to the teaching and learning that takes place. 100% of pupils achieved L4+ in Reading , Writing and Maths with 100% making expected progress in each subject. In Reading 80% achieved Level 5+, in SPAG, 80% achieved Level 5+ and 80% achieved Level 5+ in Maths. Please see the performance tables atwww.education.gov.uk/schoolsperformance for extra information.
