Maths

We believe that practical investigations should always precede formal recording in mathematics, so that children are encouraged to think, hypothesise and use appropriate mathematical language.

The school is well resourced and these are organised so that children can access their own equipment independently. Investigative work will often link with cross curriculum topics.

Children work progressively through the Numeracy Framework, using Hamilton Trust short blocks as a basis to our planning. Collins and Heinemann schemes, along with White Rose and TWINKL mastery are also used  for support and extension activities. We use computers, calculators and a range of games to support maths throughout the school.
